Winter Woodland Walks

Step into a magical winter wonderland and explore the beautiful woodland at Mother Shipton's Cave, illuminated by thousands of twinkling lights.
Winter Woodland Walk tickets are pedestrian-only and do not include parking, a Santa visit, Christmas stories, or a festive activity pack. These tickets are designed for visitors who simply wish to enjoy the enchanting woodland trail and festive atmosphere.

During your visit, you’ll discover England’s oldest tourist attraction, including the birthplace of Mother Shipton and the famous Petrifying Well (both subject to weather conditions), along with our pop up Christmas shop.
Along the woodland route, you’ll find rustic refreshment kiosks offering hot drinks, light refreshments, mince pies, and marshmallows for toasting (weather permitting).

Arrival Information

Please arrive promptly at the start of your booked time slot and leave by the end of your session. For example, if your session is 9:30am–12:00pm, entry begins at 9:30am and your visit must conclude by 12:00pm.

Accessibility

Much of the woodland trail, picnic areas, and central attraction are accessible for pushchairs and wheelchairs. However, access to the Cave and Petrifying Well is limited due to steps and uneven gravel surfaces. A sheltered area is available for parking pushchairs and wheelchairs before the steps.

Please note that the adventure playground is closed during the Christmas event.

Important Information

• Winter Woodland Walk tickets do not include parking.
• The nearest parking facility is Conyngham Hall Car Park, approximately a two-minute walk away.
• Dogs are not permitted during the Christmas event, except for registered Guide and Assistance Dogs.
• The only entrance and exit is via High Bridge. Pedestrian visitors must return to the main entrance to leave the site.
• Tickets must be booked online in advance and cannot be purchased on arrival.
• A £1.50 booking fee applies per order.
• All tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Weather-Dependent Areas:
Due to the natural woodland setting, certain areas, or the whole site, may become inaccessible during poor weather or ground conditions. These closures are for your safety. For Winter Woodland Walk ticket holders, we will contact you as soon as possible via email, text, or phone call, with the option to reschedule your visit if areas of the site are closed.
